Living Well With Chronic Pain

Living Well with Chronic Pain helps participants manage chronic pain. Topics include dealing with frustration, fatigue, isolation, and poor sleep; exercises for maintaining and improving strength; use of medications; communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals; nutrition; pacing activity and rest; and how to evaluate new treatments.

Audience: People who have a diagnosis of a chronic pain.

Class Requirements
In-Person Class
Duration
  • 2.5-hour session
  • 6 sessions, 1 session per week for 6 weeks
Leaders
  • 2 leaders
  • 1 leader should have a chronic pain
  • Requires previous certification in the Chronic Disease Self Management Program, plus a 2-day Chronic Pain Self Management Program cross-training
  • Leaders must teach 1 class per year to maintain program certification

  • Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Pain book
  • 2 easels
  • 2 flip-charts: 1 permanent, 1 for activities
  • Sharpies
  • Name tents for participants
  • Leader manuals
Participants
  • Recommended 8-16 participants per class
  • Juniper’s average number of participants enrolled in class: 8
  • Juniper’s average completion rate: 58%
  • Completer: 16 out of 24 classes
